OFIAN

Inspired by the « Ian Somerhalder Foundation » (ISF) and created in March 2011, OFIAN (Organisation pour le Futur, l’IS Foundation, les Animaux et la Nature) is a non-profit environmental association subjected to the 1901 French Law. (http://www.isf-frenchproject.com)
OFIAN is also known on twitter and the internet as (is the extension of) ISF_Fr_Project or ISF France (1st ISF support group born in December 2010).

Among OFIAN’s actions you can find for instance the support of ISF, the information of the general public regarding environmental issues or news or the fight for biodiversity and against deforestation (http://www.isffrance-ofian-gogreen.fr.st/), fight against animal abandonment  ( http://www.isf-france-ofian.org/adoption/ )

Following the example of Mr. Somerhalder who is using his celebrity status and character in the tv show “The Vampire Diaries” to shed light on environmental and animal welfare issues, we decided to organize a Green TVD Convention: a mix of two topics aka TVD and environmental/animal cause.

Using the gathering of a diverse audience in an original manner aka to inform about themes of society (e.g., environmental/animal rights) in a playful and appealing way.

ISF

ISF (Ian Somerhalder Foundation) is the foundation of the American actor and environmental activist Ian Somerhalder, created in December 2010 that aims to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures.  ISF is a team of individuals who view the environment as an interconnected organism of which we are not separate but a part. Therefore, it believes that our solutions to issues of sustainability and survivability must be enacted in an interconnected manner.  ISF carries out its mission by concentrating on 5 areas: Habitat Protection, animal Welfare, species Conservation, clean Energy Initiatives, and Kids/Youth Division.

In almost 2 years of existence, ISF brought the concept of empowerment to a new level by starting conversations on environmental/global issues, allowing them to grow and evolve naturally, making people realize that no matter who they are, what they do, they can actually have an impact on these issues if they decide to take things into their hands, voice their opinion, act on it...The Foundation inspired many all over the world to get involved.

Among its other achievements, there are the i) implementation of a successful campaign to ensure that animal cruelty laws in British Columbia protected sled dogs; ii) coordinated effort on change.org to protest the Keystone XL pipeline; iii) implementation of the Plastic Straws Can Suck It! campaign, which educates people on the waste involved in using plastic straws and provides tools and training for ambassadors to create straw-free environments; iv) organization of the largest clean up in history on Santa Monica Beach in partnership with Heal the Bay – 107 clean-up sites throughout the state, 17,500 volunteers across the state and 2,100 in attendance at the event; v) gathering of more than 100 volunteers  as well as support groups worldwide to champion global change... And the list of accomplishments goes on...

ISF currently works to secure funds and land for its new project: build an Animal Sanctuary that will shelter mistreated and neglected animals of all species.
